Hebrews 12
If you was to sneak out of the house tonight and get caught by your parents…..what would happen? Grounded for life..right? If you stole something from a store and got caught what would happen? Jail….court….probation, right? In both situations you face discipline because you did something wrong. In the first situation, your parents discipline you not for enjoyment but because they love you. Just as your parents discipline you because they love you, God also disciplines His children because He loves them. According to Hebrews 12:6, the Lord loves those whom He disciplines. If you are a true child of God and want to grow in Him, you can expect the Father to perform the appropriate discipline when you disobey Him. Why does He do this? He does this so you can be corrected and experience spiritual growth. His discipline is also for the purpose of protecting you from furthur sin and pointing you toward holiness. The Bible (Hebrews 12:11) also says discipline yields the peaceable fruit of righteousness.
